I have signed up for this workshop to see what I can learn regarding building a new home with alternative building materials for more energy savings.
I want to build another home that is more energy efficient and very sound proof. I am interested in passive solar in addition to other building solutions and materials that is available or will be available in the very near future. I have a standard track home 1700 sqf in Pflugerville. Will let you know what I find out. I have enjoyed this website and love learning about your projects. |

Hi catramsey,
Nice to have someone new around. The AustinEnergy.com workshop: http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%2...sign/index.htm I've been wanting to go to that also. This workshop has been very popular and always fills up fast. I need to sign up for the one on Oct. 27 The Austin area has been very forward thinking towards progressive home design and environmental issues and I'm sure the workshop would be informative. I've been so busy these last few months that I have not been adding much new content around here. We will eventually start building the house for Jim & Marilyn and I plan on showing more of that project. Last edited by Chris Stewart : 08-11-2007 at 09:12 AM. |

OK, I finally made it to this workshop.
I think it is a very good introduction to "Green" principles and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning about that. As a designer who has been interested with this subject for a few years I can't say I really learned anything much but they do provide you with a wealth of resources (especially for the Austin Area). I am very impressed in the program as a whole and wish my own city (just one hundred miles away) would adopt it. Kudos to Austin and Austin Energy for what is probably one of the best efforts in the USA. |
