Default Web Search Engines

Chris,
I assume you have listed this site with all the major web search engines? If not there are many ways to do so without spending much if any money. Of course, money spent results in better placement but there are many avenues that cost nothing. I write this not knowing if you are aware of how to do this. Maybe you already have. If not, the first place to check would be your web host. Usually they offer, as part of your web package, free listing on many of the bigger search engines. Also, when listing, the more key search words or phrases you enter that relate to this site, the better your results will be.
Of course you are right in that word of mouth is best but, until you get at least a small following, the search engines should be tapped as much as possible. As I said, within the context of another thread, I will be linking to this site from my web site.
Just a few thoughts.

That's a good idea.

I have not made much effort in that area so far. This is the end of my first year and I have been unsure of how my ideas would be perceived or whether I needed to change my direction. Also I wanted to build up a little content so that there is actually something here of use. So I guess this has been a year of testing.

Yes, my ISP does sell a promotion package. I have not done much with meta tags and so forth on my web pages because I don't know exactly how to do that but I do plan on expanding the promotion of this site. (I just renewed my service for three more years)

Lately my thoughts have also been towards creating/developing an introduction to the residential design process and passive efficiency concepts and I am thinking of getting a more customized look instead of the stock VBulletin look.
