Anyone still around?
Things are looking bleak in regards to my continued employment as a high school architecture and engineering teacher. So I'm curious how everyones market is actually doing. Are architectural design offices floundering or are they fairing decently?
I've grown tired of our some of our school districts policies to the point that I'm prepared to either leave the district and go to another or complete leave the educational industry for the private sector. I love teaching but due to Texas Education Agency policy changes, many districts are cutting their career and technology and business departments. As a sad as it sounds, our funding, and department budget, is being while athletics is actually expanding.
I'm not going to get up on a soap box and do any preaching as we'll address my personal opinions of that at a different time.
What I'm looking for is business intel and opinions. I'd like to stay in the San Antonio area as my wife has a solid position with the district and the odds of her position being eliminated is zero. Her area of expertise is in high demand and in some instances required (not trying to go into too much detail but lets just say she'll never be fired).
Are there any architectural design jobs available in San Antonio that anyone has heard of? I've done some looking around and have found five or six firms that I'll probably be sending a resume to for employment consideration. But then again, outside assistance is always appreciated!
Regards,
Patrick Ward
